How do I know if my gut health is compromised? If you're constantly experiencing bloating, gas, reflux, fatigue, or even skin breakouts, your gut may be the root cause. Many people don’t realize how much gut health impacts overall well-being—even mood, hormones, and immune function. If your digestion doesn’t feel right, it’s time to take a deeper look.
-
What makes functional gut health different from traditional medicine?Traditional medicine often treats symptoms with medications like antacids or laxatives, but these don’t address the root of the problem. Functional medicine uncovers WHY your gut is off balance—whether it’s food sensitivities, infections, inflammation, or dysbiosis—and builds a personalized plan to heal the gut from within for long-term relief.
-
Can gut health impact other areas of my body, such as mood and energy?Yes! Your gut is directly connected to your brain, hormones, and immune system. An imbalanced gut can lead to chronic fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, anxiety, and even autoimmunity. Healing your gut often improves energy, mental clarity, and overall health in ways you wouldn’t expect!
-
What should I expect from a gut health consultation at Solara? Our process begins with a 15-minute initial consultation to discuss your concerns and determine if we’re the right fit for your needs. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule an in-depth 60-minute consultation where I’ll take a deep dive into your symptoms, health history, diet, and lifestyle to identify potential gut imbalances. If needed, I’ll recommend comprehensive advanced functional lab testing to detect gut imbalances, food sensitivities, or overgrowth. From there, we’ll create a custom healing plan with targeted nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle changes to restore balance and get you feeling your best.

What type of training did you receive?Danielle Bergman, APRN, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Florida and went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from Purdue University. Since 2020, she has been studying at the Institute for Functional Medicine, with plans to complete her certification by 2026. Additionally, Danielle is a certified provider through the Functional Medicine Academy. Danielle's training encompasses both conventional and functional medicine. She has a deep understanding of the biological sciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, and pharmacology, as well as the processes behind conventional medical diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, Danielle has specialized education in clinical nutrition, functional medicine, and lifestyle interventions, which allows her to take a comprehensive, integrative approach to addressing her patients’ health needs. This blend of expertise enables her to focus on the underlying causes of illness and help patients achieve long-term wellness.

Are you a medical doctor? No, I am a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC), not a medical doctor. As an FNP, I am licensed and trained to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of health conditions, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic tests. My role allows me to provide comprehensive care, much like a doctor, but with a focus on patient-centered care and preventative health. In my practice at Solara Functional Wellness, I combine my training as an FNP with functional medicine principles. This approach emphasizes identifying and addressing the root causes of illness, rather than simply managing symptoms. My goal is to work closely with each patient to create personalized treatment plans that optimize their health, using a combination of advanced diagnostics, nutrition, and lifestyle changes to promote long-term wellness.
-
Do you prescribe medications? While I am licensed to prescribe medications as a family nurse practitioner, I focus primarily on using natural, noninvasive methods at Solara Functional Wellness. My approach includes nutritional therapy, herbs, supplements, stress management techniques, and lifestyle changes to address the root causes of disease and promote optimal health. I do not replace your primary care provider, and I can work collaboratively with your prescribing medical doctor to manage any necessary medications. If a prescription is necessary to support your health and wellness goals, it will be considered on a case-by-case basis and individualized to each patient’s unique needs.
-
Do you accept insurance? While some testing and services may be covered by insurance, most of our offerings at Solara Functional Wellness are considered elective and go beyond the standard care typically covered by insurance companies. We believe in making functional medicine accessible and do our best to ensure affordability for our patients.
-
Do you work with patients outside of Florida?Currently, I am licensed to work with patients within the state of Florida. However, I do plan to expand Solara Functional Wellness to offer functional medicine services to patients in other states in the future. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to grow!
-
How long will my wellness journey take? The length of your wellness journey depends on several factors, including the complexity of your condition, how long you've been dealing with it, and the time and effort you’re willing to invest in your health. Typically, our initial care plans at Solara Functional Wellness last around 4-6 months, and many clients start seeing improvements within the first month. After completing the initial plan, some patients choose to continue with maintenance visits a few times a year to sustain their progress and long-term health.
-
How much will functional medicine cost?At Solara Functional Wellness, the cost of care is individualized based on each patient’s unique health needs and long-term goals. Factors such as the extent of lab testing, recommended treatments, and the number of telehealth visits all contribute to the overall cost. Payment plans are available to accommodate different needs and budgets, ensuring that patients can focus on achieving lasting wellness.
-
How can I learn if I am a good candidate for functional medicine? The best way to determine if functional medicine is the right fit for you is to explore our website and review the information or schedule a free no-charge consult with Danielle. At Solara Functional Wellness, we are dedicated to supporting our patients throughout their health journey, building meaningful relationships along the way. We take great pride in offering personalized care and are honored to help guide our clients toward better health.
